A lot of that's gonna depend on the injury or situation, but here's what I got:
You wanna check for responsiveness or pulse. Usually if someone's just sleeping like that Diarmuid guy was, they'll make noise when you move them around. If they're knocked out by something hard and won't wake up, you'd wanna call someone in.
Stabilizing someone is harder especially if they've lost a lot of blood. Healing magic will keep them from losing anymore but taking them to a hospital right away is what you'd wanna do. If you don't have that, keep a clean cloth on you all the time to press on it.
If something's infected they might start feeling sick or wherever got hurt might start to look inflamed. Getting sick is the problem especially if they can't move much.
